Who is CAFA?

Cenla Alliance for Animals (CAFA) is a 501c(3) non-profit volunteer-driven dog and cat rescue organization based in Alexandria, Louisiana who also serves the New England area, established in 2010. We are licensed in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut and serve the surrounding New England states.

We are dedicated to rescuing abandoned, homeless, abused and neglected animals to help find them permanent responsible loving homes. We promote and assist with local spay/neuter to help our community in trying to lower overpopulated pets for low-income families and those in need of help. Many of our dogs and cats come from overcrowded high kill shelters, abandoned at dump sites, abandoned in the wilderness or in the city roaming the streets seeking help as well as those homes that need help when in unfortunate situations where the owner can no longer care for the pet.

We use commercial rescue and personal transport to safely drive our rescue animals to New England to their new homes and foster homes.

Dogs in our care are spayed/neutered, vaccinated for rabies, parvo/distemper and bordetella, micro chipped, and given flea and tick and heartworm prevention. They are also treated for heartworms if tested positive and any additional medical care deemed necessary while in our care.

We have a foster-based network that provides care and love to each one of our rescues until they are adopted in Louisiana and New England. If a dog or cat is not in New England in a foster home yet and you are interested in adopting, you can speak to the Louisiana foster who can provide information, videos and pictures to make an informed decision with you and adopt sight unseen.
